Introduction

Ida and I became temporary empty nesters when our youngest daughter went to college about a week ago.  We have planned our first extended vacation without kids since visiting Cancun in 1987.  As nearly everyone knows, we always seem to have mini disasters during our vacations, so the directive was to avoid any hurricane area when planning this vacation.  That practically left out the entire eastern seaboard which turned out to be a good thing since there are now three huricanes in the Atlantic, Earl, Fiona and Gaston.

Our trip is called Northwestern Adventure because we will be visiting Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota, traveling about 1,200 miles along the way.  We will be visiting Grand Teton National Park; Yellowstone National Park. Cody, Wyoming; Little Bighorn National Monument; Devils' Tower National Monument; Deadwood; Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial and a few other sites.  We'll blog about our adventure so you can follow us along the trail.

  1. I am really excited although a little nervous about being in such a rural area. We have such a beautiful country and I look forward to seeing it with Dave!

Does anyone know where you buy bear repellent?
